RU-N has recently completed the transition from Blackboard to Canvas.  All courses from Summer 2021 forward are running in Canvas.  To assist in this transition, two years’ worth of archived course content was imported from Blackboard to Canvas for your reference. This automated process included an exception report which identifies potential items that may need updating or adjustments. The specific semesters' of content are dependent on your school.  Check our blog for the current month's schedule or schedule a one-on-one session with a staff member.

As with Blackboard, Canvas is supported by RU-N's Academic Technology Services (faculty) and RU-N IT (students).  This learning management system extends the learning environment beyond the physical classroom. Canvas has many features that facilitate teaching, learning and interaction including:

  • Incorporation of files, graphics, and audio/video clips into course materials
  • Facilitated communication through:
    • Announcements posted in one central location
    • Email messages
    • Discussion boards
    • Desktop web conferencing
  • Assignment management
  • Plagiarism detection
  • Tests and Surveys
  • Online gradebook including rubrics
  • Automated integration of the course roster
  • Utilization of the University NetID login
  • Course copying from one semester to the next
